Michael Bond was born in Newbury, Berkshire, England on 13th January 1926. He was educated at Presentation College, Reading. During World War II Michael Bond served in both the Royal Air Force and the Middlesex Regiment of the British Army.
Chris Riddell is one of today's most highly acclaimed illustrators and the chief political cartoonist for the Observer. He has won numerous awards, including the Nestlé Gold Award, the UNESCO Prize, and the rare honour of two Kate Greenaway Medals. Chris has created over 100 books for children of all ages, including his hugely popular collaborations with Paul Stewart such as Muddle Earth and the Blobheads series. Wendel's Workshop, his second solo picture book for Macmillan, follows The Emperor of Absurdia.
The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

Audrey Penn grew up in Maryland, USA. Audrey Penn didn’t start off her career as a writer. Penn, in the 1970s, was a ballerina dancer dancing for the New York City Ballet, Danny Diamond Dance Theatre, Stuttgart Ballet, and the National Ballet. Between 1973 and 1976 she was an alignist and choreographer for the US Figure Skating team for the Pan American Games and the 1976 Olympic Gymnastics Team.
Barney the Dinosaur is a purple and green Tyrannosaurus Rex in stuffed animal likeness, who comes to life through a child's imagination. His theme song is "Barney Is a Dinosaur," which is sung to the tune of "Yankee Doodle". Another of Barney's favourite song is "I Love You", sung to the tune of "This Old Man" which happens to be Barney's favorite song of all time. Despite being a carnivorous type dinosaur, Barney likes many different foods such as fruits and vegetables, but his main favorite is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a glass of milk.
